Exercise Stress Echocardiogram

What is a Treadmill Stress Test?

A treadmill stress test is a diagnostic procedure used to assess heart function during physical activity. The patient walks on a treadmill that gradually increases in speed and incline while heart rate, blood pressure, and EKG are monitored. It helps evaluate how the heart responds to stress, identifying issues like coronary artery disease or arrhythmias.

What is an Exercise Stress Echocardiogram?

An exercise stress echocardiogram combines a treadmill test with an echocardiogram. The patient exercises to increase heart rate while ultrasound images of the heart are taken before and after exercise. This test helps assess how the heart responds to physical stress, detecting conditions like coronary artery disease or heart valve problems.
